The Piedmont,  a magnificent region, rich of history, traditions and culture to be tasted as a good glass of wine…



1st day Arrival at Milan airport and meeting point with an English speaking driver to reach an ancient property located in Alessandria area. Dinner and overnight.

2nd day – Alba / Serralunga Alba, Langhe’s capital, it is a gourmet centre famous for its delicious” tartufi bianchi” or white truffles and its wines. Walking tour to the historic centre.

The town boasts several feudal towers, churches and medieval houses. Inside the Gothic Duomo dedicated to St Lawrence are Renaissance choir stalls inlaid with intarsia work of very delicate craftsmanship. We will be seeing the Risorgimento square, heart of the old town, the Dome in gothic-Lombard style, St Lawrence, San Domenico church built between the XIII and the XIV century …. Visit of a small cellar, tasting the prestigious Barolo’s wine, the most appreciated Italian wine in the entire world, the wine has a garnet red colour with orange reflections that praise ageing as required by DOC or DOCG for at least a minimum of three years in a oak barrel. Its developed taste, dry, sturdy but maintaining its divine character, harmonious and elegant, the classical wine that goes along with roast, game, and cheese… Typical lunch in Neive, in the heart of this region, where it will be possible to taste the famous truffle of Alba.

Serralunga d’Alba striking XIV century castle – a reminder of the days when locals had far more to worry about than the conditions for the upcoming grape harvest. The fortress dominates the village and the surrounding countryside;

from its heights we admire a grand view over green vineyards covered hills and hazelnut groves, neighbouring hill towns, villages and isolated farm house, as well as several other than Medieval strongholds. Back to the hotel, dinner and overnight.

3rd day – Fontanafredda / Barolo Fontanafredda, great and famous establishment which is composed of  the ancient hunting Palace of  King Vittorio Emanuele II and extensive vineyards, that gives life to Barolo and Dolcetto wines with a dry taste slightly bitter, with a ruby colour. Typical lunch.

Barolo Castle, where we will visit the splendid library that was under the responsibility of Silvio Pellico and the Regional Barolo wine gallery that represents the largest and specialised panorama of the regional production: famous window of the regional grape production of eleven districts that are promoting and protecting the king’s wine image and of the territory through the exhibition of aged wine bottles, the art exhibition and the ethnographic equipment, tasting a glass of wine, selected wines from the historical cellars of  Marquis Falletti, Barrolo’s cradle… Back to the property, dinner and overnight.

4th day – Piedmont cheese visit

After breakfast, meeting point in the lobby of the hotel with an English speaking tour escort and the driver to visit of a farm house which produces typical Piedmont cheese. After lunch, back to the property for an afternoon at leisure. Dinner and overnight.

5th day – Cherasco / Grinzane

Cherasco, elegant city where in 1976 Napoleon dictated the unconditional rendition  to Savoia, very famous for its fairs and the Golf Club. Gourmet lunch in a restaurant of the region.

Through the suggestive Dolcetto itinerary, we will reach the Grinzane Cavour Castle, the majestic manor house where stayed for a long time the famous man from the government Camillo Benso where he created a centre of very important wine production. Visit of this beautiful manor house, which became a Regional wine gallery and a very rich museum. We will continue with a visit of a nougat house to assist at the production of this sweet product. Back to the property, dinner and overnight.

6th day – Nizza Monferrato / Canelli Nizza Monferrato, visit of the Museum of  Agriculture where an exhibition of originals agricultural tools will allow us to get to know the local traditions of past centuries.

We will also cover the itinerary of Monteferrato, through this attractive region of limestone hills. Defended by numerous strong holds and covered in castles, towers and fortified towns, Monferrato is a generous region which has given Piedmont some of its finest wines: as Moscato wines and Spumante d’Asti. We will have lunch in the historical centre in a typical restaurant. Visit of Canelli’s cave among the most ancient of the region where we could taste the prestigious wines of Moscato d’Asti, soft with inimitable originated grapes musk odour: the white Moscato, delicate and intense, which recalls peach and apricot, glycerine and linden, classical wine of Piedmont that praise the DOCG, fruit of  the white Moscato grapes cultivated on the Canelli hills and that goes along well with cakes and fruit salads … and the Barbera, fruit of the best Barbera’s grape. Ageing for at least a year, this wine with its strong taste, rich, dry, of a intense red colour, goes along with meat and cheese … At the end of the day, free walking tour in Canelli’s historic centre of town, where was produced the sweet Spumante for the first time in the world. Back to the property, dinner and overnight.

7th day Morning at leisure and transfer always with English speaking driver to Milan airport to flight to U.S.
