Tivoli at the foot of the Tiburtini hills which dominate the vast quarries of travertine marble and are host to the springs bringing the sulphurous waters to the spa town of Bagni di Tivoli, it‘s worth to stop to a guided visit of Villa D'Este (entrance fees included), one of the most beautiful residences of the Renaissance. The Villa's countless fountains, set in the heart of magnificent Italian style gardens, create a delightfully graceful symphony of carved stone, shade, sunlight and water. 3rd day

Viterbo
After breakfast departure always with the english speaking driver to a full day excursion to Calcata and Viterbo. Calcata is a small town which, even though it's only 40 km. north of Rome, it's been able to keep its historical and natural patrimony intact. Free time to discover this particular town and departure to Viterbo. Viterbo stills girdled by its walls, has kept its medieval aspect, notably in the San Pellegrino quarter, a working-class area which houses many craftsmen. Here there are typical vaulted passageways, towers and external staircases. On Piazza San Lorenzo, which occupies the site of the former Etruscan acropolis back to the Middle Ages with a 13C house on Etruscan foundations (now a chemist’s), its cathedral dating from 1192 and adorned with a fine Gothic campanile, and its 13C papal palace, Palazzo dei Papi – one of the most interesting examples of medieval secular architecture in Lazio. Free time for lunch and guided visit of the city. Back to the hotel and evening on your own.
